Alumni of the Character Animation Program includes: Pete Docter, Brenda Chapman, John Musker, Rich Moore, Pendleton Ward, Craig McCracken, Alex Hirsch, and Daron Nefcy.

As of January 2017, the collective box office grosses by CalArts Alumni feature film directors exceeded $40 billion dollars.

CalArts is ranked #1 in the Animation School Rankings by the Animation Career Review, a position it has held for the last seven years.

CURATOR BIO

Maija Burnett is the Director of the Character Animation Program at CalArts in Valencia, California, where she administers the program, teaches, mentors students, and runs a weekly guest speakers’ series.

Burnett served as a Board Member for the GLAS Animation Festival in Berkeley, CA, and is currently a member of its Advisory Committee.

Maija represents CalArts at various international events and has been a jury member for numerous animation festivals.

ORGANIZATION BIO

CalArts teaches artists to develop their skills and discover their true personal motivation so they will reach their maximum creative potential by questioning existing ideas and expanding beyond traditional forms of knowledge to imagine and create new experiences in the world.

CalArts challenges artists to create work that matters globally to the state of culture today and that might endure in the future.
